grew up in the metro-Detroit suburb of Sterling Heights and
as a child, was exposed to many different genres of music.
His first memories of inspiration came from Michael Jackson,
Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Marley, Garth Brooks, Metallica and Slipknot.
Searching for something new and fresh, he started going to
warehouse parties in Detroit in the late 90’s and was completely
captivated by the music. He became a regular at parties every
weekend, amazed by the different types of music and the people
who made the scene what it was.
In 2000, he began promoting
for Clear Channel radio which allowed him access to all the
clubs hosting well-known DJ’s such as Paul Oakenfold, Sasha,
John Digweed and Christopher Lawrence. His love for the music
grew exponentially, as did his desire to be the one behind
the decks.
In 2001, he bought his first
set of Technics and a 3-channel Stanton mixer. K.L.A.S. would
sit in the basement of his suburban home for hours upon hours,
doing anything he could to hone his craft. He started D-Ranged
Productions with Uptown, writing D&B, jungle and trance.
Since then, his desire for perfection and love for the music
has kept him moving towards bigger and better things. K.L.A.S.
is currently spinning around the ‘D’ and has been heard throwing
down progressive house and techno tracks at Techno.fm alongside
fellow DJ’s and friends Peter J and Todd Ludeman, both of
Confusion Productions. More recently, he has shared the stage
with some of the greats such as Wolfgang Gartner, Bad Boy
Bill and Detroit legend, Terrence Parker.
